Debian Etch sparc images for QEMU
=================================

This directory contains two Debian Etch sparc images for QEMU:

  b6ed493e2232f1be1b4a14544ea5225e debian_etch_sparc.qcow2
  d155a733c890a7399e3c4a31181450d4 debian_etch_sparc_small.qcow2

Both images are 10GiB images in QCOW2 format on which a Debian Etch system
has been installed. The small image corresponds to a "Standard system"
installation, while the other image corresponds to a "Standard system" +
"Desktop environment" installation. Other options are as follow:
 - Keyboard: British English
 - Language: English
 - Mirror: ftp.de.debian.org
 - Hostname: debian-sparc
 - Root password: root
 - User account: user
 - User password: user

To use these images, you need to install QEMU 0.10.0 (or later). Start QEMU
with the image as argument:

  qemu-system-sparc -hda debian_etch_sparc.qcow2
or
  qemu-system-sparc -hda debian_etch_sparc_small.qcow2

If you don't want to start QEMU in graphic mode, you can use the -nographic
option. When this option is used, the console is switched to the serial port.

By default QEMU emulates a SparcStation 5 machine with 128MiB of RAM. You can
use the -m option to increase or decrease the size of the RAM. It is however
limited to 256MiB. If you want to use more RAM (up to 2047MiB), switch the
machine to a SparcStation 10 machine (-M SS-10).
