Toy Software, I wrote
blinkd[deb] is a little toy that lets you keyboard LEDs blink. I use it as a helper for the answering machine software. The rhythm of the num lock LED shows how many calls there are.
ttcn-el is an TTCN-3 editing mode for GNU Emacs (and XEmacs). TTCN-3 is the Test and Test Control Notation 3 by ETSI. The TTCN-3 mode is based on cc-mode. This is the world's first TTCN-3 editor! Meanwhile, modes for VIM and Nedit exist, as well as commercial, non-free editors.
msc is an ascii messagy sequence chart creation tool/toy. Originally written in Perl by Rubens Ramos Fernandes Junior, I rewrote it in Python - just out of fun and to try out the pyparsing library.
Projects, I contribute(d) to
asn1-mode[deb], an ASN.1 editors mode for GNU Emacs (and XEmacs). ASN.1 is the Abstract Syntax Notation 1. (small patches to make it work with newer Emacs versions)
cdbs[deb], the Common Debian Build System (helped a bit with the documentation in DocBook/XML)
dia[deb], a diagramme editor for Linux, UNIX, and Windows (patches for Network elements, UML elements, and command line use, manual page in DocBook/XML)
DocBook XSL stylesheets[deb], XSL styleheets to transform DocBook/XML documents into HTML and other output formats (small patches for HTML and htmlhelp)
FAI[deb], flexible, class-based auto-installer for Debian and Solaris (only one minor patch, and a recipe to create a Debian mirror and a release file for use with apt-move and FAI). Currently, I am not using FAI, as the automation features of d-i are sufficient for my limited purposes.
AisleRiot[deb], a solitaire game for the GNOME desktop (rules for Plait, my only Scheme excursion ever, my only involvement in a computer game ever)
omniORB4[deb], a really good CORBA ORB for C++ and Python (patches for using pkg-config)
ORBit2[deb], a small and fast CORBA ORB for C (patch for incorporating the naming service in Debian plus manual pages)
PFE[deb], the Portable Forth Environment (initial port to VxWorks, a lot of other stuff, but I do not use Forth anymore)
SimPy[deb], a Python-based simulation package (small installation patch, setup.py)
snacc, an ASN.1 to C/C++ compiler (only minor build fixes and documentation)

I am using GNU/Linux since 1993, registered as user 7456. Starting with SLS (Softlanding Linux Systems) 1.0.3(?) with kernel 0.99.12 (of 1993-08-15), copied on about thirty floppy disks, I switched to Slackware soon, and found finally to Debian GNU/Linux. Since 1998 I am a Debian developer.
