Update Tue Jun 15 12:33:51 MDT 2004: Seems like Adam has not updated
his 2.2.x Woody backports. I put together new 2.2.9 packages for Woody and
am making them available here.

Update Wed Mar 10 11:36:32 MST 2004: I never had the time to check
the files that were here pre-compromise. However, Adam Conrad,
another Debian developer, built samba-2.2.8a packages for Woody
and made them available here:

http://people.debian.org/~adconrad/Samba.README

----------------------------------------------------------------------

[I'll restore the samba-2.2.8a Debian packages that were here
as soon as I confirm they were not tampered during the compromise
of Debian machines late last year.]

Samba 2.2.8a was released before we could sync. our patches
with the Samba Team. Because of this, some of the patches in
samba-2.2.8a/packaging/Debian/debian/patches/, which worked with Samba
2.2.7, will fail to apply to Samba 2.2.8a when you follow the instructions
in packaging/Debian/README.

To solve this problem, fetch the file debian.tar.gz in this directory
and untar it in the samba-2.2.8a directory. This will create a
directory called "debian" that should be used instead of the directory
packaging/Debian/debian/. After you have this updated "debian" directory,
you can follow the rest of the instructions in packaging/Debian/README -
nothing else has changed.

If all you are looking for are Woody Samba packages (with the same
features as the official packages in Debian Woody - e.g. no LDAP support),
they are here already. Put this line in your /etc/apt/sources.list
(for i386 packages):

deb http://people.debian.org/~peloy/samba stable main

PowerPC, HPPA and Motorola 68000 packages are also provided thanks to
Adam Conrad <adconrad@0c3.net>. They are currently not "apt-getable",
but you can download them from the pool/main/s/samba/ directory.
