Introduction
These are the Debian Developer pages for Steve Kemp, I joined the Debian project in September 2002, with the login skx, after being approved.
Contrary to my expectation it was a fairly fast process, from inital application to the time my account was created took only two months.
Since that time I've been interested in working with networking applications, and security issues. Both of these are important when it comes to looking after large numbers of Debian (and indeed any other) machines.
skx?
When I joined the University of Edinburgh the students of Computer Science were each allocated a three-letter login based upon their initials.
Although I do have a middle name I rarely use it. Instead I give it to utility companies, banks, etc, so that when I see (postal) mail addressed to me by my full name I know it is a bill and shouldn't be ignored.
Since the C.S. course only had my first name and surname they gave me "skx" - "s" for Steve, "k" for Kemp, and "x" for unknown.
Upon reflection I guess I should have been "sxk", but that aside I've been using skx pretty much ever since.
GPG Key
My GPG key is available within the Debian keyring package but you can also download it here: skx.gpg.
