== apt-get repositories ==

In addition to the official Debian GNU/Linux package archives there are several well known unofficial repositories from which you can download and install packages.

Three of the best known archives are:

  - [apt-get.org http://www.apt-get.org]
  - [backports.org http://www.backports.org]
  - [debian-multimedia.org http://www.debian-multimedia.org]


The first two offer more recent packages than those available with the Sarge release of Debian GNU/Linux, whilst the latter offers multi-media packages which aren't included with Debians releases.

=== Personal APT Repository ===

For my own use I maintain a small personal repository which can be used by ``apt-get``.

This mostly includes softawre I have written, or found a need for, which isn't included in Sarge.
