Meeting me for Key Signing
Location
My preferred meeting point is at the north-east corner of the shopping
mall Les Halles in the 1er arrondissement (1st district) of
Paris. Street address is the corner of the streets rue
Rambuteau and rue Pierre Lescot. At this corner of Les
Halles, there is a outdoor stairway to the upper level, and some
steps up this stairway there are life-size white sculptures of a
group of people, a dog, and a man on roller skates.
The place is very well served by Metro and RER. The name of the
station is Chatelet - Les Halles for RER (lignes A, B, or D),
and Les Halles for Metro (ligne 4).
- From the RER station:
take the exit Porte Pierre Lescot. You know that you have taken
the right exit when you are on a long escalator which spans 3 levels.
Turn left when you leave the mall. Otherwise (it is easy to loose directions in
the RER station) take any exit, orientation is much easier once you are on the
street.
- From the Metro station take the exit rue Rambuteau to
street level, turn left when you reach the street.
If you have to contact me please note that I read my debian.org email only
at evenings and weekends. See here for how to reach me at work.
Requirements for Key Signing
You will have to present to me a valid official ID document: Passport,
national identity card or its equivalent (carte de séjour, etc.).
The key that you want me to sign must carry your full name and a
valid email address. Please prepare a paper containing
- The fingerprint of your key. This is 40-digit hex number
(attention: pgpg tends to truncate fingerprints)
- The ID of your key (such that I can easily get the full key from a
keyserver)
- The name, including email address, of the main uid of your key
- All sub-uids that you want me to sign
The easiest way to obtain all these is to print the information
obtained by the command gpg --fingerprint myname,
where you replace myname by your name. For me, for instance,
this looks as follows:
% gpg --fingerprint treinen
pub 1024D/E0BA04C1 2000-02-26 Ralf Treinen <treinen@debian.org>
Key fingerprint = 8C9B 3B90 A68C 53FD 5756 8BFF B735 A649 E0BA 04C1
uid Ralf Treinen <treinen@club-internet.fr>
sub 1024g/D3DF40EF 2000-02-26
In this example, E0BA04C1 is the ID of my key.
