How to contribute to Debian without being a Debian Developer?
- I am not a programmer - What can I help with my different skills?
- With natural skill: Almost every Taiwanese here has ability to help on
- Translating the program, documentation and the website to native language
- If bandwidth available:
- Provide a public Debian mirror to share Debian with others
- If spare hardware available, like an old laptop
- Give it to young free software developers who are still students
- Install Debian and give it away to schools and students in rural area or NGOs and tell them to freely and legally use free software.
- If you have money, depends on how much you have
- Sponsor people buying hardware for Debian, sponsor a cake for Debian's birthday, or sponsor a bottle of wine for gathering
- If you have time:
- Monitoring packages that you use the most, report problem and submit solution via BTS
- Answer questions on mailing list or on IRC
- Arrange Debian related event to promote Debian
- Respect and be friendly with all the Debian contributors and developers
- Be polite, and don't be shy to say thank you.
