Macaulay2 Debian Personal Package Archive

The latest version of Macaulay2 should become available in Debian unstable and testing shortly after release. However, the versions in Debian stable and oldstable are not updated.

To obtain the latest version of Macaulay2 on these systems, follow the directions below. Packages are available for the amd64 (most modern systems), armhf (32-bit Raspberry Pi), and arm64 (64-bit ARM) architectures.

Debian stable (Debian 12 "bookworm")

As root, add the following to /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/debian-keyring.gpg] https://people.debian.org/~dtorrance/debian bookworm/
Then run:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install macaulay2

Debian oldstable (Debian 11 "bullseye")

As root, add the following to /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/debian-maintainers.gpg] https://people.debian.org/~dtorrance/debian bullseye/
Then run:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install macaulay2

If you get an error of the form "Certificate verification failed: The certificate is NOT trusted. The certificate issuer is unknown. Could not handshake: Error in the certificate verification." after running sudo apt update, then try running sudo apt install ca-certificates.
