Q: Why does Debian sponsor uploads?

- is it public service?
- attract new packagers?
- get more packaging done?
- should we really encourage people to start from scratch with a new package instead of joining existing teams to learn best practices and workflows?

Q: How are we doing, what could we improve?

- package quality?
- telling people early their package is "not sponsorable"?
- making sure RFS get any feedback (being acks or nacks)? 
- be fair to all requests?
  * requirements are different for different sponsors
  * find a bare minimum of requirements (e.g. think of "cdbs vs. debhelper", "traditional copyright vs. DEP-5", ...)?
  * waiting times are different
  * "luck" is a factor which does matter (e.g. fly-by mass sponsoring happens, where other packages are lost in space)
- encourage non-DDs to do reviews (karma system for expo? related: see on expo.d.n for some review comments I made)
- find a "fair" methodology to determine whether a package belongs to Debian or not?

Q: Should there be a mentors team, or some other structure?

Q: Technical solutions for social problems?

- does someone want to add some shiny tracking features to expo?
  * for example: Import reviews from the mentors mailing list into expo and weighten them by their importance, e.g.
    + was it from a DD?
    + was it some random person feeling important?
    + is the person doing that reviews known [see karma above]?
- can/should we use the BTS ?
- make the sponsor process more transparent / is it transparent enough?
- Are developers aware of problems sponsored maintainers have?
- Would it help to know the entire sponsor/review history of a person when having a look into a package?
- metrics to streamline matching between sponsors and packages that
  could be sponsored and also to give hints to sponsees about
  how they can make their package match the interests/requirements
