Anbei DWN 47 im Original und frischer Übersetzung. Bitte überprüft
dies gewissenhaft. Solltet Ihr noch Änderungsvorschläge haben, so
pflegt diese bitte gleich im CVS ein oder sendet Helge einen Patch.

Daß ich die Vorschau heute verschicke, liegt daran, daß Helge derzeit
beschäftigt ist. Trotzdem Reply-To auf ihn gesetzt.

easier maintenance and contribution.  Despite the upcoming release of sarge,

<p><strong>Debian News RSS Feed.</strong> Greg Stark
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/11/msg00772.html";>wondered</a>
if <a href="$(HOME)/News/weekly/">Debian Weekly News</a> is available via
<acronym title="Rich Site Summary">RSS</acronym>.
Romain Francoise
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/11/msg00777.html";>pointed out</a>
that <a href="http://gmane.org";>GMANE</a> provides RSS
feeds for many Free Software lists, including Debian News
<a href="http://rss.gmane.org/gmane.linux.debian.user.news";>RSS</a>
and in
<a href="http://blog.gmane.org/gmane.linux.debian.user.news";>blog"</a> format.
There is currently no official RSS feed provided by the Debian project, though
<a href="$(HOME)/devel/website/">volunteers</a>
are welcome to write the necessary code.

<p><strong>Saving Download Bandwidth.</strong> Goswin von Brederlow <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/11/msg00790.html";>proposed</a>
to provide sorted <code>Packages</code> files in order to reduce the amount of
data that needs to be retrieved for each update since the
<code>Packages</code> file for sid is already 13&nbsp;MB (3.5&nbsp;MB
compressed) large.  Adam Heath <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/11/msg00916.html";>added</a>
that the package name alone would not be sufficient and Eduard Bloch <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/11/msg00812.html";>mentioned</a>
<code>apt-dupdate</code> as another means to speed up the download.  Several
developers have contributed ideas and code about this to <a
href="http://bugs.debian.org/128818";>Bug#128818</a>.</p>

<p><strong>The Workstation OS: Debian.</strong> Hindistan Kivilcim <a
href="http://www.newsforge.com/article.pl?sid=04/11/23/1933211";>explained</a>
the reasons to make Debian GNU/Linux the operating system (OS) on his workstation
which are crystal clear: "Installing new applications and configuring old ones
in Debian GNU/Linux is a breeze.  You do not have to worry about dependencies,
library problems, or even former configuration files."  He also emphasised
package dependencies versus file dependencies.</p>

<p><strong>OpenOffice.org 1.9 for Debian.</strong> Chris Halls <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-openoffice/2004/11/msg00216.html";>\
announced</a> very rough <a
href="http://people.debian.org/~halls/openoffice/test/ooo1.9-java/";>\
packages</a> for OpenOffice.org 1.9.62 as a preview for the upcoming version
2.0.  He warns that these packages are not of the same quality or caliber as
Debian users would normally expect to see.  They mostly lack proper Debian
integration as well and the packages will be placed in
<code>/opt/openoffice1.9.62/</code>.</p>

<p><strong>Remote Collaboration.</strong> Don Marti <a
href="http://zgp.org/~dmarti/blosxom/business/collaboration.html";>wrote</a>
about fostering the conversations that make a group a team.  He
mentions that mail can quickly turn into personal accusations and
misunderstandings so that a short phone call may avoid real trouble.  He
also emphasised on the value of online meetings (IRC, IM) and cooperative
online resources (bug tracking system, wikis) and mentioned when they should
not be used.</p>

<p><strong>Installing Linux 2.6 on Debian.</strong> Falko Timme wrote a <a
href="http://www.falkotimme.com/howtos/debian_kernel2.6_compile/";>\
tutorial</a> on running Linux 2.6 together with Debian GNU/Linux 3.0
(woody).  In order to have module support some backports need to be
installed.  One of the final steps is creating a ramdisk so that the kernel
will boot properly.</p>

<p><strong>Bug Squashing Parties last Weekend.</strong> During the bug
squashing parties last weekend, several <a
href="http://bugs.debian.org/release-critical/";>release-critical bugs</a> have
been closed.  Additionally, a solution for the KDE removal <a
href="http://bugs.debian.org/183702";>problem</a> has been discussed and
improvements to the testing scripts prepared.  There are some pictures from
the party in <a href="http://www.inittab.de/gallery/2004/bsp_0411/";>Frankfurt,
Germany</a>.  Corrections for the remaining problems are still
appreciated.</p>

<p><strong>Security Updates.</strong> You know the drill.  Please make sure
that you update your systems if you have any of these packages installed.</p>

verschoben</a> um die Wartung und Beiträge zu vereinfachen. Trotz der anstehenden
Veröffentlichung von Sarge wird eine weitere

eine sortierte <code>Packages</code>-Datei bereitzustellen, um die Menge an
Daten, die für jede Aktualisierung benötigt werden, zu reduzieren, da die 
<code>Packages</code>-Datei bereits 13&nbsp;MB (3.5&nbsp;MB komprimiert)
groß sei.  Adam Heath <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/11/msg00916.html";>ergänzte</a>,
dass der Paketname alleine nicht ausreichen würde, und Eduard Bloch <a

<p><strong>Das Arbeitsplatz-BS: Debian.</strong> Hindistan Kivilcim <a
href="http://www.newsforge.com/article.pl?sid=04/11/23/1933211";>legte</a>
seine Gründe dar, Debian GNU/Linux zum Betriebssystem (BS) seines Arbeitsplatzes
zu machen, die kristallklar lauten: »Das Installieren neuer und das
Konfigurieren alter Anwendungen in Debian GNU/Linux ist ein Kinderspiel.  Man
muss sich nicht um Abhängigkeiten, Bibliotheks-Probleme oder gar frühere
Konfigurationsdateien kümmern.«  Darüber hinaus betonte er Paketabhängigkeiten
versus Dateiabhängigkeiten.</p>

<p><strong>OpenOffice.org 1.9 für Debian.</strong> Chris Halls <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-openoffice/2004/11/msg00216.html";>\
kündigte</a> sehr grobe <a
href="http://people.debian.org/~halls/openoffice/test/ooo1.9-java/";>\
Pakete</a> von OpenOffice.org 1.9.62 als Vorschau für die kommende Version
2.0 an. Er warnt, dass diese Pakete nicht von der gleichen Qualität oder
dem gleichen Kaliber seien, wie sie Debian-Benutzer normalerweise zu sehen
erwarteten.

Ihnen fehlte hauptsächlich vernünftige Integration in Debian und sie würden
in <code>/opt/openoffice1.9.62/</code> abgelegt.</p>

<p><strong>Entfernte Zusammenarbeit.</strong> Don Marti
<a href="http://zgp.org/~dmarti/blosxom/business/collaboration.html";>schrieb</a>
über das Pflegen von Konversation, aus welcher heraus eine Gruppe zu einem
Team wird.  Er erwähnt, dass E-Mail sich schnell zu persönlichen Anschuldigungen
und Missverständnissen wandeln könne, so dass mitunter mittels eines kurzen
Telefonats wirkliche Probleme vermieden werden können.  Darüber hinaus betonte
er den Wert von Online-Treffen (IRC, IM) und kooperativen Online-Ressourcen
(Fehlerdatenbanken, Wikis) und erwähnte, wann diese nicht verwendet werden
sollten.</p>

<p><strong>Linux 2.6 auf Debian installieren.</strong> Falko Timme schrieb eine
<a href="http://www.falkotimme.com/howtos/debian_kernel2.6_compile/";>\
einführende Anleitung</a>, wie man Linux 2.6 zusammen mit GNU/Linux 3.0 (Woody)
laufen lässt.  Für Modulunterstützung müssen einige Backports installiert
werden.  Einer der letzten Schritte ist das Erstellen einer Ramdisk, so dass
der Kernel ordentlich bootet.</p>

<p><strong>Fehlerausmerzpartys am vergangenen Wochenende.</strong> Während der
Fehlerausmerzpartys am vergangenen Wochenende wurden mehrere
<a href="http://bugs.debian.org/release-critical/";>veröffentlichungskritische Fehler</a>
geschlossen.  Zusätzlich wurde eine Lösung für das KDE-Entfernungs-\
<a href="http://bugs.debian.org/183702";>Problem</a> diskutiert und
Verbesserungen der »testing«-Skripte vorbereitet.  Es gibt einige Bilder von
der Party in
<a href="http://www.inittab.de/gallery/2004/bsp_0411/";>Frankfurt</a>.
Korrekturen der verbleibenden Probleme werden weiterhin gerne gesehen.</p>
