Anbei die derzeit im Debian-CVS aktuelle Version des englischsprachigen
Originals und der derzeitige Stand der Übersetzung aus dem Alioth-CVS.

Korrekturvorschläge (diff -u) bitte bis ca. 17 Uhr MESZ am morgigen
Mittwoch, den 11. Mai, an mich oder direkt ins Alioth-CVS.
Sobald ich mit dem Abarbeiten der Korrekturvorschläge durch bin, werde
ich Gerfried eine kurze Statusmeldung senden, auf dass er den Versand
des Newsletters ankurbeln kann, und die jüngste Version ins Debian-CVS
einpflegen. Alles, was danach noch eintreffen mag, werde ich dann
direkt ins Debian-CVS einarbeiten, aber es wird wohl nicht mehr für
den Versand berücksichtigt werden können.

<p>Willkommen zu der 19. Ausgabe der DWN in diesem Jahr, dem wöchentlichen
Newsletter der Debian-Gemeinschaft. Kurz vor der Veröffentlichung ergab
sich eine
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/05/msg00220.html";>\
Diskussion</a> über die Versionsnummer von Sarge. Angesichts der bevorstehenden
Veröffentlichung von Sarge sah die
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/";>debian-release</a>-Liste
eine Flut von Anfragen zur Aktualisierung von Paketen in Sarge, mit der
sich das Veröffentlichungsteam nun befasst.</p>

<p><strong>Sarge ist eingefroren.</strong> Steve Langasek <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/05/msg00001.html";>\
verkündigte</a> letzten Endes, dass Sarge eingefroren sei. Alle
Aktualisierungen erfordern eine manuelle Überprüfung und sollten, wenn
möglich, über Unstable migrieren. Er erklärte, welche Änderungen noch
für Sarge erlaubt seien, und hob hervor, kritische Fehler nur ohne andere
Änderungen zu korrigieren. Wenn alles gut geht, seien wir zum Ende des
Monats bereit zu veröffentlichen.</p>

<p><strong>Debian-Server mit 3,1 Watt.</strong> Alex Perry
<a href="http://www.pamurray.com/manga/";>installierte</a> Debian Woody auf
einer Peplink
<a href="http://www.peplink.com/en/products/MANGA_Plus.php";>Manga</a>. Diese
Einheit kombiniert einen ARM-basierten Prozessor, zwei
Ethernet-Schnittstellen, einen Vier-Port-Switch, USB 2.0 und eine
Leistungsaufnahme von 3 Watt (inklusive Netzteil). Er installierte Debian
auf einem 1&nbsp;GB-USB-Flash-Gerät und erklärt Schritt für Schritt, wie es
gegangen sei.</p>

<p><strong>Zweiter Bericht des Debian-Projektleiters.</strong> Branden Robinson <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/05/msg00005.html";>\
veröffentlichte</a> seinen zweiten <a
href="http://people.debian.org/~branden/dpl/reports/2005-05-08.html";>\
Bericht</a>, in dem er neben anderen Themen über den Sarge-Veröffentlichungsprozess
berichtete, über drei ARM-Maschinen, die zum buildd-Netzwerk hinzugefügt wurden,
über bevorstehende Hardware-Umbauten, über Debians Aktiva und Hardwarespenden
sowie über ein Interview und Reisepläne.</p>

<p><strong>Aktualisierung zur AMD64-Portierung.</strong> Jörg Jaspert <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/05/msg00004.html";>\
gab bekannt</a>, dass das AMD64-Archiv von <a
href="http://alioth.debian.org/";>Alioth</a> auf einen eigens bereitgestellten
Server umgezogen sei, um CPU-Last und Festplattennutzung des alten Hosts zu
verringern. Das System nutze eine Kopie der Debian-Archiv-\
<a href="http://packages.debian.org/dak";>Programmsammlung</a>, dem spezielle
Werkzeuge
hinzugefügt wurden, um diese inoffizielle Distribution synchron zu Debian Sarge
zu halten. CD-Images der Veröffentlichung werden ebenfalls auf
<a href="http://cdimage.debian.org/";>cdimage.debian.org</a> beherbergt sein.</p>

<p><strong>Lizenz-Inkompatibilitäten.</strong> Christian Hammers <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/05/msg00127.html";>berichtete</a>
über ein <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/243870";>Problem</a> mit <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/quagga";>Quagga</a>, das unter der
<a href="http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html";>GNU GPL</a> lizenziert ist,
aber gegen <a href="http://packages.debian.org/libsnmp5";>\
NetSNMP</a> gelinkt werden solle.
Dies sei problematisch, da NetSNMP von OpenSSL abhänge, was wiederum nicht
GPL-kompatibel sei.</p>

<p><strong>Status der APT-Migration.</strong> Florian Weimer <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/05/msg00172.html";>veröffentlichte</a>
den Status der Migration von <a href="http://packages.debian.org/experimental/base/apt";>\
apt 0.6</a> nach Sid und möglicherweise auch nach Sarge. Er stellt eine öffentliche
<a href="http://apt-secure-test.enyo.de/README";>Test-Suite</a> bereit, so dass
interessierte Benutzer das Verhalten von apt 0.6 mit verschiedenen Testdaten
ausprobieren können. Matt Zimmerman <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/05/msg00196.html";>fügte hinzu</a>,
dass es aufgrund von Abhängigkeiten zu einigen Bibliotheken nicht ganz banal sei
eine neue Version hochzuladen, sogar nach <code>experimental</code>.</p>

<p><strong>Gutachten in Bezug zu Debian.</strong> MJ Ray <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2005/04/msg00288.html";>schrieb</a>
eine <a href="http://people.debian.org/~mjr/surveys.html";>Zusammenfassung</a>
über mehrere kürzlich durchgeführte Gutachten, welche auch das Debian-Projekt
beträfen. Sie enthält ebenfalls einige Querverweise zu Ratschlägen, wie man
gute Gutachten erstellt. Andrew Suffield <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2005/04/msg00290.html";>fügte</a>
einige recht zynische Kommentare hinzu, w.z.B. dass Gutachten mit sehr viel
Skepsis betrachtet werden sollten.</p>

<p>Welcome to this year's 19th issue of DWN, the weekly newsletter for the
Debian community.  Shortly before the release a <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/05/msg00220.html";>\
discussion</a> on the version number for sarge arose.  In light of the
upcoming release of sarge, the <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/";>debian-release</a> list has
seen a flood of requests to update packages in sarge which the release team
are dealing with.</p>

<p><strong>Sarge is frozen.</strong> Steve Langasek eventually <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/05/msg00001.html";>\
announced</a> the freeze of sarge.  All updates need to be approved manually
and should go in via unstable if possible. He explained which changes are
still allowed to go into sarge and emphasised on only fixing critical bugs
without other changes.  If everything goes well, we'll be ready to release at
the end of the month.</p>

<p><strong>Debian Server in 3.1 Watts.</strong> Alex Perry <a
href="http://www.pamurray.com/manga/";>installed</a> Debian woody on a Peplink
<a href="http://www.peplink.com/en/products/MANGA_Plus.php";>Manga</a>.  This
unit combines an ARM based processor, two Ethernet interfaces, a four port
switch, USB 2.0 and a power draw of 3 Watts (including the AC adaptor).  He
installed Debian on a 1&nbsp;GB USB flash drive and explains step by step how
it went.</p>

<p><strong>Second Project Leader Report.</strong> Branden Robinson <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/05/msg00005.html";>\
wrote</a> his second <a
href="http://people.debian.org/~branden/dpl/reports/2005-05-08.html";>\
report</a> in which he reported about the sarge release progress, about three
new ARM machines that have been added to the buildd network, upcoming hardware
upgrades, about Debian assets and hardware donations, an interview and travel
plans among other topics.</p>

<p><strong>AMD64 Port Update.</strong> J&ouml;rg Jaspert <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/05/msg00004.html";>\
announced</a> that the AMD64 archive has been moved from <a
href="http://alioth.debian.org/";>Alioth</a> to a dedicated server in order to
decrease the load and disk usage on the old host.  The system uses a copy of
the Debian archive <a href="http://packages.debian.org/dak";>suite</a> and has
special tools added to keep their inofficial sarge distribution in sync with
the Debian sarge distribution.  CD images of the release will also be hosted
on <a href="http://cdimage.debian.org/";>cdimage.debian.org</a>.</p>

<p><strong>License Incompatibilities.</strong> Christian Hammers <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/05/msg00127.html";>reported</a>
about a <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/243870";>problem</a> with <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/quagga";>Quagga</a> which is licensed under
the <a href="http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html";>GNU GPL</a> but is supposed
to be linked against <a href="http://packages.debian.org/libsnmp5";>\
NetSNMP</a>. This poses a problem since NetSNMP depends on OpenSSL which is
not GPL compatible.</p>

<p><strong>APT Migration Status.</strong> Florian Weimer <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/05/msg00172.html";>reported</a>
the status of the <a href="http://packages.debian.org/experimental/base/apt";>\
apt 0.6</a> migration into sid and maybe sarge.  He has set up a public <a
href="http://apt-secure-test.enyo.de/README";>test suite</a> so that interested
users can test the behaviour of apt 0.6 with different test data.  Matt
Zimmerman <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/05/msg00196.html";>added</a>
that uploading a new version even into <code>experimental</code> is
non-trivial due to library dependencies.</p>

<p><strong>Surveys in Debian.</strong> MJ Ray <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2005/04/msg00288.html";>wrote</a>
a <a href="http://people.debian.org/~mjr/surveys.html";>summary</a> that
describes recent surveys done with affiliation to the Debian project.  It also
include some pointers to advice on producing good surveys.  Andrew Suffield <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2005/04/msg00290.html";>added</a>
more cynical comments to it such as that surveys have to be treated with extreme
scepticism.</p>

<p><strong>Security Updates.</strong> You know the drill.  Please make sure
that you update your systems if you have any of these packages installed.</p>
