Anbei die derzeit im Debian-CVS aktuelle Version des englischsprachigen
Originals und der derzeitige Stand der Übersetzung aus dem Alioth-CVS.

Korrekturvorschläge (diff -u) bitte bis ca. 19 Uhr MESZ am heutigen
Mittwoch, den 06. Juli, an mich oder direkt ins Alioth-CVS.
Sobald ich mit dem Abarbeiten der Korrekturvorschläge durch bin, werde
ich Gerfried eine kurze Statusmeldung senden, auf dass er den Versand
des Newsletters ankurbeln kann, und die jüngste Version ins Debian-CVS
einpflegen. Alles, was danach noch eintreffen mag, werde ich dann
direkt ins Debian-CVS einarbeiten, aber es wird wohl nicht mehr für
den Versand berücksichtigt werden können.

<p>Welcome to this year's 27th issue of DWN, the weekly newsletter for the
Debian community.  David Nusinow <a
href="http://www.livejournal.com/users/gravityboy/14794.html";>announced</a>
Debian <a href="http://people.debian.org/~dnusinow/xorg/";>packages</a> for
X.Org that he also planned to upload into unstable. Norbert Tretkowski has
built <a href="http://people.debian.org/~nobse/xorg-x11/";>backports</a> for
sarge.  Rajiv Battula has
published a small <a
href="http://www.reviewlinux.com/articles/26/1/Debian-3.1-Review";>review</a>
of Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 in which he demonstrates how simple installing Debian
has become.</p>

<p><strong>Release Team Meeting.</strong> Andreas Barth sent in the <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2005/06/msg00241.html";>minutes</a>
of the release team meeting last week.  During the meeting they discussed
issues learned from releasing sarge, list release goals for etch and proposed
a timeline.  Potential release blockers are the toolchain transition, the
introduction of X.Org, freeing documentation, the archive split, the addition
of amd64 and securing apt.</p>

<p><strong>Ongoing Installer Development.</strong> Joey Hess <a
href="http://kitenet.net/~joey/blog/entry/d-i_after_sarge-2005-06-28-00-27.html";>\
reported</a> about his ongoing effort to keep the <a
href="$(HOME)/devel/debian-installer/">debian-installer</a> working after the
release.  The worst breakage so far has been in <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/debootstrap";>debootstrap</a> and the Slang 2
<a href="http://wiki.debian.net/?EtchSlang2upgrade";>transition</a> seems to
cause new problems as well.  He also referred to the first CD images for
etch, which don't work, though.</p>

<p><strong>Request for Packaging?</strong> Lars Wirzenius <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2005/06/msg00299.html";>wondered</a>
if RFP (request for packaging) <a href="$(HOME)/devel/wnpp/requested">bugs</a>
are still useful since there are about thousand of them.  He mentioned <a
href="http://freshmeat.net/";>freshmeat</a> and <a
href="http://www.gnomefiles.org/";>gnomefiles</a> as sites where to look for
new stuff to package.  As the average age of such requests is about 200 days,
Lars proposed a 365 day maximum age for RFP bugs.</p>

<p><strong>Structured Program Output.</strong> Olaf van der Spek <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01024.html";>wondered</a>
if there were plans to add means to emit structured output for several
command line utilities.  He noticed that some fields of the output get
truncated if the corresponding values are too wide.  Gabor Gombas <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01118.html";>explained</a>
that those programs are intended to be parsed by humans and that there are
certain other means for programs to gain comprehensible information.</p>

<p><strong>Ongoing Firefox Trademark Problems.</strong> Eric Dorland <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01160.html";>reported</a>
about the <a href="http://www.mozilla.org/foundation/trademarks/policy.html";>\
trademark policy</a> that is not compatible with adding random patches to
Debian packages of Firefox and Thunderbird without infringing their upstream
trademarks.  In the long discussion Florian Weimer <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01190.html";>added</a>
that for PHP and Apache Debian has simply ignored their trademark policy and
considered the software sufficiently free.</p>

<p><strong>GLADE Transition.</strong> Martin Michlmayr <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01199.html";>proposed</a>
to move from <a href="http://packages.debian.org/libglade0";>libglade1</a> to
<a href="http://packages.debian.org/libglade2-0";>libglade2</a> since it has
been orphaned two years ago.  Matthew Garrett <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01200.html";>added</a>
that this would require a transition from GTK1 to GTK2 for all affected
packages.  Steve Langasek <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01319.html";>explained</a>
that several packages that use the old library represent libraries for
GNOME&nbsp;1 that don't have an equivalent for GNOME&nbsp;2.</p>

<p><strong>Dealing with offensive Material.</strong> Ralf Hildebrandt <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01388.html";>wondered</a>
how to deal with potentially offensive content in a screensaver.  Lars
Wirzenius <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01400.html";>\
suggested</a> not to install a screensaver that does more than blank the
screen.  Alexander Schmehl <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01435.html";>\
contributed</a> a piece of the Fedora patch that removes potentially offending
words.</p>

<p><strong>Tilde in Package Versions.</strong> Paul Hampson <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01425.html";>asked</a> if
the tilde symbol may be used in package version now that sarge has been
released.  Steve Langasek <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01482.html";>explained</a>
that the required changes have not yet been made to the archive suite (DAK) to
make this possible for etch.  Adam Heath <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01483.html";>added</a>
that DAK uses the symbol as separator internally.</p>

<p><strong>Sixth annual Debian Conference.</strong> The Debian project <a
href="$(HOME)/News/2005/20050705">announced</a> the sixth annual Debian <a
href="$(HOME)/events/2005/0710-debconf">conference</a> which will be held at
the Computer Science department of the Helsinki University of Technology in
Espoo, Finland from July 9th to July 17th 2005.  On the first day, several
developers will <a href="http://www.debconf.org/debconf5/about/debianday";>\
talks</a> aiming at the general public.</p>

<p><strong>Security Updates.</strong> You know the drill.  Please make sure
that you update your systems if you have any of these packages installed.</p>

X.Org an, die er auch nach Unstable hochzuladen plane. Norbert Tretkowski hat

Sarge erstellt.  Rajiv Battula veröffentlichte eine kleine

<p><strong>Treffen des Veröffentlichungsteams.</strong> Andreas Barth schickte

des Treffens diskutierten sie die aus Sarge gelernten Punkte, führten die
Veröffentlichungsziele für Etch auf und schlugen einen Zeitplan vor. Mögliche

Veröffentlichungsblockierer sind die Überleitung der Werkzeugkette, die
Einführung von X.Org, die Befreiung der Dokumentation, die Archiv-Aufteilung,
die Hinzunahme von amd64 und die Absicherung von apt.

<p><strong>Laufende Installer-Entwicklung.</strong> Joey Hess <a
href="http://kitenet.net/~joey/blog/entry/d-i_after_sarge-2005-06-28-00-27.html";>\
berichtete</a> über seine laufenden Bemühungen, den <a
href="$(HOME)/devel/debian-installer/">Debian-Installer</a> nach der 
Veröffentlichung am Laufen zu halten. Der bisher schlimmste Bruch sei in <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/debootstrap";>Debootstrap</a> gewesen und der
Slang 2-<a href="http://wiki.debian.net/?EtchSlang2upgrade";>Übergang</a> scheine
auch neue Problem zu verursachen. Er bezog sich auch auf die ersten CD-Images
für Etch, die allerdings nicht funktionierten.
</p>

<p><strong>Paketier-Bitte?</strong> Lars Wirzenius <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2005/06/msg00299.html";>fragte 
sich</a>, ob RFP- (Bitte um Paketierung) <a
href="$(HOME)/devel/wnpp/requested">Fehler</a> noch nützlich seien, da es 
ungefähr tausend von ihnen gebe. Er erwähnte <a href="http://freshmeat.net/";>\
freshmeat</a> und <a href="http://www.gnomefiles.org/";>gnomefiles</a> als Orte,
wo nach neu zu paketierendem Zeug gesucht werden könne. Da das durchschnittliche
Alter solcher Bitten bei ungefähr 200 Tagen liege, schlug Lars vor, ein 
Maximalalter von 365 Tagen für RFP-Fehler einzuführen.</p>

<p><strong>Strukturierte Programmausgabe.</strong> Olaf van der Spek <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01024.html";>fragte sich</a>,
ob es Pläne gebe, Methoden zur strukturierten Programmausgabe zu mehreren
Befehlszeilenwerkzeugen hinzuzufügen. Er bemerkte, dass einige Felder der
Ausgabe abgeschnitten würden, wenn die entsprechenden Werte zu breit seien.
Gabor Gombas <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01118.html";>erklärte</a>,
dass diese Programme dazu gedacht seien, um von Menschen gelesen und
verstanden zu werden, und dass es gewisse anderen Methoden gebe, auf welchen
Programme für sie verständliche Informationen erhalten könnten.</p>

<p><strong>Fortdauernde Probleme mit dem Firefox-Markenzeichen.</strong> Eric
Dorland <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01160.html";>berichtete</a>
über die <a href="http://www.mozilla.org/foundation/trademarks/policy.html";>\
Markenzeichen-Richtlinien</a>, die nicht kompatibel zum Hinzufügen von
beliebigen Patches zu den Debian-Paketen von Firefox und Thunderbird seien,

ohne das Markenzeichen von deren ursprünglichen Autoren zu verletzen.
In der langen Diskussion <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01190.html";>fügte</a>
Florian Weimer hinzu, dass Debian im Falle von PHP und Apache deren
Markenzeichen-Richtlinien schlichtweg ignoriert und die Software als
ausreichend frei erachtet habe.</p>

<p><strong>GLADE-Übergang.</strong> Martin Michlmayr <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01199.html";>schlug vor</a>,
von <a href="http://packages.debian.org/libglade0";>libglade1</a> zu
<a href="http://packages.debian.org/libglade2-0";>libglade2</a> überzuwechseln,
da es vor zwei Jahren als verwaist markiert worden sei. Matthew Garrett <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01200.html";>fügte hinzu</a>,

dass mehrere Pakete, die die alte Bibliothek verwendeten, Bibliotheken
für GNOME&nbsp;1 darstellten, für die es kein Äquivalent für GNOME&nbsp;2
gebe.</p>

<p><strong>Umgang mit anstößigem Material.</strong> Ralf Hildebrandt <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01388.html";>fragte sich</a>,
wie man mit potenziell anstößigen Inhalten bei einem Bildschirmschoner
umgehen solle. Lars Wirzenius <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01400.html";>schlug vor</a>,
keinen Bildschirmschoner zu installieren, der mehr als ein Ausblenden des
Bildschirms durchführe. Alexander Schmehl <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01435.html";>steuerte</a>
einen Teil des Fedora-Patches bei, der potenziell anstößige Wörter
entferne.</p>

<p><strong>Tilde in Paketversionen.</strong> Paul Hampson <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01425.html";>fragte</a>,
ob das »Tilde«-Zeichen nunmehr in Paketversionen verwendet werden dürfe, da
Sarge nun veröffentlicht sei. Steve Langasek <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01482.html";>erklärte</a>,
dass die notwendigen Änderungen an der Archiv-Programmsammlung (DAK), die
dies möglich machen sollen, noch nicht vorgenommen worden seien. Adam Heath <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01483.html";>fügte hinzu</a>,
dass DAK das Zeichen intern als Trennzeichen verwende.</p>

<p><strong>Sechste jährliche Debian-Konferenz.</strong> Das Debian-Projekt <a
href="$(HOME)/News/2005/20050705">kündigte</a> die sechste jährliche Debian-<a
href="$(HOME)/events/2005/0710-debconf">Konferenz</a> an, die vom 9. bis zum
17. Juli 2005 am Fachbereich für Informatik der Technischen Universität
Helsinki in Espoo, Finnland, stattfinden wird. Am ersten Tag werden mehrere
Entwickler
<a href="http://www.debconf.org/debconf5/about/debianday";>Vorträge</a>
halten, deren Zielgruppe die allgemeine Öffentlichkeit ist.</p>
