Anbei die derzeit im Debian-CVS aktuelle Version des englischsprachigen
Originals und der derzeitige Stand der Übersetzung aus dem Alioth-CVS.

Korrekturvorschläge (diff -u) bitte bis ca. 19 Uhr MESZ am heutigen
Mittwoch, den 20. Juli, an mich oder direkt ins Alioth-CVS.
Sobald ich mit dem Abarbeiten der Korrekturvorschläge durch bin, werde
ich Gerfried eine kurze Statusmeldung senden, auf dass er den Versand
des Newsletters ankurbeln kann, und die jüngste Version ins Debian-CVS
einpflegen. Alles, was danach noch eintreffen mag, werde ich dann
direkt ins Debian-CVS einarbeiten, aber es wird wohl nicht mehr für
den Versand berücksichtigt werden können.

<p>Welcome to this year's 29th issue of DWN, the weekly newsletter for the
Debian community.  By the time that this issue is released, this year's <a
href="$(HOME)/events/2005/0710-debconf">Debian conference</a> in Finland
will have finished.  About 270 people gathered for nearly three weeks in
Helsinki forming a nice <a
href="http://aigarius.blogspot.com/2005/07/debconf5-group-photo.html";>group
photo</a>.  During the conference <a href="http://alioth.debian.org/";>\
Alioth</a> has been <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2005/07/msg00174.html";>upgraded</a>
to Debian sarge with several improvements included.</p>

<p><strong>Plans for new Debian-CDs.</strong> Steve McIntyre <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00005.html";>\
summarised</a> the goals and plans for the next version of <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/debian-cd";>debian-cd</a>.  The handling of
tasks and dependencies needs to be improved.  They want to improve the layout
code so that packages are copied faster and to simplify the task of creating
different layouts, like multi-arch or combined binary/source.</p>

<p><strong>Debian GNU/Hurd Status Update.</strong> Michael Banck <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00006.html";>\
reported</a> that Debian GNU/Hurd is alive and kicking, though it could do with
some more help.  About 40&nbsp;% of all Debian packages are built for the Hurd
and a buildd is waiting for inclusion into the archive system.  The core
packages are maintained by a team and coordination of this port is organised
via <a href="http://debian-hurd.alioth.debian.org/";>Alioth</a>.</p>

<p><strong>Library Updates for the C++ ABI Change.</strong> Steve Langasek <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00007.html";>\
explained</a> that C++ libraries have to be renamed without a soname change
during the transition to GCC 4.0 with a different application binary interface
(ABI).  He also warned developers not to upload libraries before the C++
libraries they depend on have successfully made the transition and are built
on all architectures.</p>

<p><strong>Expanding the Release Team.</strong> Andreas Barth is <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00009.html";>\
looking</a> for new release assistants to better distribute the workload
during the development cycle for etch that just started.  Applicants need to
be Debian developers, have a lot of spare time to dedicate, worked on QA and
understand general programming and scripting languages as well as Debian
packaging.  He also emphasised that this is a grunt work position.</p>

<p><strong>Tracking Distributions and Versions.</strong> Colin Watson <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00010.html";>\
announced</a> a large-scale modification of the <a href="$(HOME)/Bugs/">bug
tracking system</a> that allows to track versions and distributions that are
affected by particular bugs.  Reporters can now add particular version to
which a bug applies and close bugs with regards to specific versions.  As a
result, the meaning of distribution-specific tags has changed.</p>

<p><strong>Maintaining orphaned Packages.</strong> Rapha&euml;l Hertzog <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-qa/2005/07/msg00035.html";>proposed</a> to
maintain orphaned packages with a small user base on <a
href="http://alioth.debian.org/";>Alioth</a> and to hand out write access to
those interested in them, even when they don't want to become their official
maintainers.  Basically he would like to <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-qa/2005/07/msg00102.html";>start</a>
a QA task force that actively maintains such packages with a lot of external
input.</p>

<p><strong>Debian Printing Group.</strong> Roger Leigh <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg02199.html";>proposed</a>
to form a printing group inside Debian in order to coordinate the various
printing packages.  Due to the numerous ways of setting up a working printing
system, bugs in one package are often in interdependent packages.  As a
result, the <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-printing/";>\
debian-printing</a> list has been <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-printing/2005/07/msg00000.html";>\
created</a>.</p>

<p><strong>SSH Default Setting changed.</strong> Marco d'Itri <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00023.html";>noticed</a>
that the default setting of <code>HashKnownHosts</code> has been set to
<code>yes</code> in sid which results in all new host addresses to be hashed.
They are not human-readable anymore.  Florian Weimer <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00027.html";>added</a>
that this setting reduces the chance for worms to abuse the
<code>known_hosts</code> file.  Colin Watson <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00045.html";>quoted</a>
the documentation of <code>ssh-keygen</code> that will help remove old
entries.</p>

<p><strong>Security Updates.</strong> You know the drill.  Please make sure
that you update your systems if you have any of these packages installed.</p>

<p>Willkommen zur 29. Ausgabe der DWN in diesem Jahr, dem wöchentlichen
Newsletter der Debian-Gemeinschaft. Wenn diese Ausgabe veröffentlicht ist, ist
die diesjährige <a href="$(HOME)/events/2005/0710-debconf">Debian-Konferenz</a>
in Finnland bereits vorbei. Über 270 Leute haben sich für fast drei Wochen in
Helsinki versammelt und ein nettes <a
href="http://aigarius.blogspot.com/2005/07/debconf5-group-photo.html";>\
Gruppenphoto</a> gebildet. Während der Konferenz wurde <a 
href="http://alioth.debian.org/";>Alioth</a> auf Debian Sarge <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2005/07/msg00174.html";>\
aktualisiert</a> inklusive mehrerer Verbesserungen.</p>

<p><strong>Pläne für neue Debian-CDs.</strong> Steve McIntyre <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00005.html";>\
fasste</a> die Ziele und Pläne für die nächste Version der <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/debian-cd";>debian-cd</a> zusammen. Die 
Handhabung der Aufgaben und Abhängigkeiten müsse verbessert werden. Sie wollten
den Layout-Code verbessern, so dass Pakete schneller kopiert würden und die 
Aufgabe der Erstellung verschiedener Layouts, wie beispielsweise Multi-Arch oder
kombinierte Binärprogramme/Quellen, vereinfacht werde.

<p><strong>Debian GNU/Hurd-Statusaktualisierung.</strong> Michael Banck <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00006.html";>\
berichtete</a>, dass Debian GNU/Hurd gesund und munter sei, obwohl es mehr
Hilfe vertragen könne. Rund 40&nbsp;% aller Debian-Pakete seien für den Hurd
gebaut worden und ein buildd warte auf die Einbindung in das Archivsystem. Die
Kernpakete würden von einem Team betreut und die Koordination dieser Portierung
werde über <a href="http://debian-hurd.alioth.debian.org/";>Alioth</a> 
erledigt.
</p>

<p><strong>Bibliotheks-Aktualisierungen für den C++-ABI-Wechsel.</strong> Steve 
Langasek <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00007.html";>\
erklärte</a>, dass C++-Bibliotheken während des Wechsels zu GCC 4.0, das eine
geänderte Anwendungs-Binär-Schnittstelle (ABI) habe, umbenannt werden müssten
ohne den »SOName« zu ändern. Außerdem warnte er Entwickler, keine
#HK: SOName == Shared Object Name? Ich würde das unübersetzt lassen und keine
#    komplizierte Umschreibung versuchen.
# HW: die »komplizierte Umschreibung« ist der Originaldiskussion entliehen
Bibliotheken hochzuladen, bevor die C++-Bibliotheken, von denen sie abhängten,
den Wechsel erfolgreich durchlaufen hätten und auf allen Architekturen gebaut
worden wären.</p>

<p><strong>Das Veröffentlichungsteam erweitern.</strong> Andreas Barth <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00009.html";>\
sucht</a> neue Veröffentlichungsassistenten, um das Arbeitspensum während des
Entwicklungszykluses für Etch, der gerade begonnen habe, besser zu verteilen.
Mögliche Bewerber müssten Debian-Entwickler sein, eine Menge Freizeit aufwenden,
an QA gearbeitet haben und allgemeine Programmier- und Skript-Sprachen
sowie Debian-Paketierung verstehen. Er betonte auch, dass dies eine
schweißtreibende bzw. wenig dankbare Arbeit sei.</p>

<p><strong>Distributionen und Versionen verfolgen.</strong>
Colin Watson gab eine groß angelegte Modifizierung der
<a href="$(HOME)/Bugs/">Fehlerdatenbank (BTS)</a> <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00010.html";>\
bekannt</a>, die es erlaube,
Versionen und Distributionen zu verfolgen, die von entsprechenden Fehlern
betroffen seien. Der Berichtende könne jetzt die jeweilige Version
hinzufügen, auf die sich der Fehler beziehe, oder Fehlerberichte
mit Hinweisen auf spezielle Versionen schließen. Als Folge daraus hätte sich die
Bedeutung von Distributions-spezifischen Markierungen geändert.</p>

<p><strong>Verwaiste Pakete betreuen.</strong> Rapha&euml;l Hertzog <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-qa/2005/07/msg00035.html";>schlug vor</a>,
verwaiste Pakete mit einer kleinen Nutzerbasis auf <a
href="http://alioth.debian.org/";>Alioth</a> zu verwalten und denjenigen
Schreibrechte zu geben, die daran interessiert seien, selbst wenn sie nicht
offizielle Betreuer der Pakete werden wollten. Generell würde er gerne eine
QA-Projektgruppe <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-qa/2005/07/msg00102.html";>\
einrichten</a>, die aktiv und mit vielen Anregungen von außerhalb solche Pakete
betreue.</p>

<p><strong>Debian Printing Group (Debian-Druck-Team).</strong> Roger Leigh <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg02199.html";>machte den
Vorschlag</a>, eine Printing Group innerhalb von Debian zu gründen, um die
verschiedenen Druckpakete zu koordinieren. Aufgrund der zahlreichen Arten, ein
funktionierendes Drucksystem aufzusetzen, sind Fehler in einem Paket oft in
voneinander abhängigen Paketen. Als erstes Ergebnis wurde die
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-printing/";>\
debian-printing</a>-Mailingliste <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-printing/2005/07/msg00000.html";>\
geschaffen</a>.</p>

<p><strong>SSH-Standardeinstellung geändert.</strong> Marco d'Itri <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00023.html";>bemerkte</a>,
dass die Standardeinstellung von <code>HashKnownHosts</code> in Sid auf
<code>yes</code> gesetzt wurde, was bedeute, dass alle neuen Host-Adressen
gehasht würden. Sie seien dann nicht mehr im Klartext lesbar. Florian Weimer
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00027.html";>fügte hinzu</a>, 
dass diese Einstellung die Wahrscheinlichkeit verringere, dass Würmer die
<code>known_hosts</code>-Datei missbrauchten. Colin Watson <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00045.html";>zitierte</a>
die Dokumentation von <code>ssh-keygen</code>, das dabei helfen werde, alte Einträge
zu entfernen.</p>
