Anbei die derzeit im Debian-CVS aktuelle Version des englischsprachigen
Originals und der derzeitige Stand der Übersetzung aus dem Alioth-CVS.

Korrekturvorschläge (diff -u) bitte bis ca. 18 Uhr MESZ am morgigen
Mittwoch, den 27. Juli, an mich oder direkt ins Alioth-CVS.
Sobald ich mit dem Abarbeiten der Korrekturvorschläge durch bin, werde
ich Gerfried eine kurze Statusmeldung senden, auf dass er den Versand
des Newsletters ankurbeln kann, und die jüngste Version ins Debian-CVS
einpflegen. Alles, was danach noch eintreffen mag, werde ich dann
direkt ins Debian-CVS einarbeiten, aber es wird wohl nicht mehr für
den Versand berücksichtigt werden können.

<p>Welcome to this year's 30th issue of DWN, the weekly newsletter for the
Debian community.  The hosting offer for two important Debian machines ended
and they are being temporarily <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00013.html";>\
relocated</a> to <a href="http://www.hp.com/";>HP</a>, resulting in a temporary
downtime of several services.  Lars Wirzenius <a
href="http://liw.iki.fi/liw/log/2005-07.html#20050719b";>reported</a> that <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/piuparts";>piuparts</a>, a testing utility for
Debian packages, has been added to the archive.</p>

<p><strong>Greylisting for Debian Hosts.</strong> Santiago Vila would like the
project to <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01550.html";>\
consider</a> using greylisting, a technique to delay mails, on
Debian hosts.  Rich Walker <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01624.html";>\
explained</a> that some mail servers can't cope with such delays.  Florian
Weimer <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01704.html";>\
added</a> that zombie software that is locked out with greylisting will
probably be improved in the future, leaving greylisting without effect.  Marc
Haber <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01697.html";>\
noted</a> that <a href="http://packages.debian.org/exim";>exim</a> runs the
queue every 30 minutes, which would be a significant for many users.</p>

<p><strong>Setting the CPU Frequency Policy.</strong> Mattia Dongili <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00026.html";>pondered</a>
setting a default governor for the CPU frequency on boot during the
<code>rc.S</code> stage in order to set the policy early during the boot
process.  Bernd Eckenfels <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00768.html";>explained</a>
that setting it early during startup doesn't help since reducing the CPU
frequency during boot is not useful and having the CPU run at full speed for a
short moment won't drain the battery.</p>

<p><strong>Potential Debconf Abuse.</strong> Jörg Sommer <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00114.html";>wondered</a>
if using debconf to ask about the default look for an editor would be abuse.
Hamish Moffatt <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00139.html";>pondered</a>
whether it is necessary to ask such a question when there is a sensible
default.  Petter Reinholdtsen <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00140.html";>proposed</a>
to use priority <code>low</code> but then there's not much point in <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00146.html";>asking</a>
it at all.</p>

<p><strong>Automatic Password Generation.</strong> Olaf van der Spek <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00209.html";>wondered</a>
how to tell the admin about a newly generated password to access a daemon on
their system.  The best method would probably be to store it in a
configuration file in <code>/etc</code> as John Hasler <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00210.html";>pointed
out</a> and protect it from unauthorised persons by using sane
permissions.</p>

<p><strong>Multi-Architecture Proposal.</strong> Nikita Youshchenko <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00232.html";>asked</a>
about the status of the <a href="http://raw.no/debian/amd64-multiarch-2";>\
multi architecture</a> proposal.  While this is not required to support the
pure amd64 port which is going to be integrated into Debian, it is a
requirement for supporting sparc64, s390x, mips64, mipsel64 and powerpc64.  It
is <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00354.html";>\
planned</a> to provide only a limited number of packages for native 64-bit use
on these architectures instead of the entire archive.</p>

<p><strong>Debian Logo Font.</strong> Andreas Tille <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00251.html";>wondered</a>
if the font used on the Debian <a href="$(HOME)/logos/">logo</a> is available
as TeX font as well and could be used for the "Debian-Med" sign.
Jörg Friedrich <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00256.html";>\
mentioned</a> the <a href="http://wiki.debian.net/?DebianLogo";>wiki page</a>
with more details and contributed a <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-www/2003/08/msg00261.html";>mail</a> by
Gerfried Fuchs that revealed <a href="http://www.identifont.com/show?U5";>Poppl
Laudatio Condensed</a> as used font.</p>

<p><strong>Bug Mail Subscription.</strong> Joachim Breitner <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00490.html";>announced</a>
a new bug subscription feature of the <a href="$(HOME)/Bugs/">bug tracking
system</a> (BTS).  During <a href="$(HOME)/events/2005/0710-debconf">\
DebConf</a> the feature was integrated into the BTS and the listserver.  It is
now <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00014.html";>\
possible</a> to <a href="$(HOME)/Bugs/Developer#subscribe">subscribe</a> and
unsubscribe to individual bug reports.  This
also works for non-existing bug numbers.</p>

<p><strong>Changed Program Behaviour.</strong> Matt Kraai <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00614.html";>reported</a>
that the behaviour of <a href="http://packages.debian.org/texi2html";>\
texi2html</a> has changed recently.  The new version will place the generated
HTML files in a sub-directory when it is asked to split by chapter.  This will
cause several packages to fail during their building stage.</p>

<p><strong>Debian QA Meeting.</strong> Martin Zobel-Helas <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-qa/2005/07/msg00123.html";>announced</a> a
<a href="http://qa.debian.org/";>QA team</a> meeting taking place from the 9th
to the 11th of September in Darmstadt, Germany.  He noted that the group is
already maintaining about 265 packages that have accumulated around 633 bugs.
The aim of this meeting is to fix long outstanding bugs, improve the QA
infrastructure and work on documentation.</p>

<p><strong>Debian Conference ends in a Success.</strong> The Debian project <a
href="$(HOME)/News/2005/20050724">announced</a> that this year's <a
href="$(HOME)/events/2005/0710-debconf">Debian Conference</a> was a great
success with more than 300 people attending and over 20 sponsors.  One
highlight was the presentation about the large-scale deployment of 80,000
Debian workstations in Extramadura, Spain.  The presentations were captured by
the video team and are available <a href="http://dc5video.debian.net/";>\
online</a>.</p>

<p><strong>Debtags finally integrated.</strong> Enrico Zini <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00016.html";>\
reported</a> that <code>Packages</code> files recently started to include <a
href="http://debtags.alioth.debian.org";>debtags</a> information that others
had already <a
href="http://blog.drinsama.de/erich/en/linux/debian/2005071901-tags-in-packages";>\
noticed</a>.  The tag information can be browsed <a
href="http://debian.vitavonni.de/packagebrowser";>online</a> and edited with
either <a href="http://packages.debian.org/debtags-edit";>debtags-edit</a> or
<a href="http://packages.debian.org/tagcolledit";>tagcolledit</a>.</p>

<p><strong>Security Updates.</strong> You know the drill.  Please make sure
that you update your systems if you have any of these packages installed.</p>

<p>Willkommen zur 30. Ausgabe der DWN in diesem Jahr, dem wöchentlichen
Newsletter der Debian-Gemeinschaft. Das Hosting-Angebot für zwei wichtige
Debian-Maschinen endete und sie wurden vorübergehend nach
<a href="http://www.hp.com/";>HP</a> <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00013.html";>\
umgesiedelt</a>, was zeitweilig zur Nicht-Verfügbarkeit von mehreren Diensten
führte. Lars Wirzenius <a
href="http://liw.iki.fi/liw/log/2005-07.html#20050719b";>berichtete</a>, dass <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/piuparts";>piuparts</a>, ein Testwerkzeug für
Debian-Pakete, zum Archiv hinzugefügt worden sei.</p>

<p><strong>Greylisting für Debian-Hosts.</strong> Santiago Vila möchte gerne,
dass das Projekt über die Verwendung von Greylisting, einem Verfahren, bei dem
E-Mails verzögert werden, auf den Debian-Hosts <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01550.html";>nachdenkt</a>.
Rich Walker <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01624.html";>erklärte</a>,
dass einige Mailserver solche Verzögerungen nicht bewältigen könnten. Florian
Weimer <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01704.html";>\
fügte hinzu</a>, dass durch Greylisting ausgesperrte Zombie-Software in der
Zukunft wahrscheinlich verbessert werde, so dass Greylisting ohne Effekt bliebe.
Marc Haber <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/06/msg01697.html";>\
merkte an</a>, dass <a href="http://packages.debian.org/exim";>exim</a> seine
Warteschlange alle 30 Minuten abarbeite, was für viele Benutzer eine erhebliche
Verzögerung bedeute.</p>

<p><strong>Einstellen der CPU-Frequenz-Richtlinie.</strong> Mattia Dongili <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00026.html";>dachte</a>
über das Einrichten eines Standard-Reglers für die CPU-Taktfrequenz während
des <code>rc.S</code>-Stadiums beim Booten nach, auf dass diese Richtlinie
bereits früh während des Boot-Vorgangs gesetzt werde. Bernd Eckenfels <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00768.html";>erklärte</a>,
dass ein frühes Einrichten während des Startens nicht helfen werde, da ein
Verringern der CPU-Taktfrequenz während des Bootens nicht zweckdienlich sei
und es die Batterien nicht erschöpfen würde, wenn die CPU für einen kurzen
Moment auf voller Geschwindigkeit liefe.</p>

<p><strong>Möglicher Missbrauch von Debconf.</strong> Jörg Sommer <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00114.html";>fragte sich</a>,
ob es Missbrauch wäre, Debconf für die Frage nach dem Standardaussehen eines
Editors zu verwenden. Hamish Moffatt <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00139.html";>grübelte</a>,
ob es nötig sei, solch eine Frage zu stellen, wenn es eine sinnvolle 
Standardeinstellung gebe. Petter Reinholdtsen <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00140.html";>schlug vor</a>,
Priorität <code>low</code> (niedrig) zu nutzen, allerdings sei es dann nicht
mehr sonderlich sinnvoll, die Frage überhaupt <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00146.html";>zu
stellen</a>.</p>

<p><strong>Automatische Passwort-Erzeugung.</strong> Olaf van der Spek <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00209.html";>fragte sich</a>,
wie er dem Administrator von einem neu erstellten Passwort berichten solle, um auf
einen Daemon auf dessen System zugreifen zu können. Die beste Methode wäre
wahrscheinlich, es in einer Konfigurationsdatei in <code>/etc</code> zu speichern,
wie John Hasler <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00210.html";>aufzeigte</a>,
und diese durch die Nutzung von passenden Rechten vor nicht-autorisierten Personen
zu schützen.</p>

<p><strong>Der Multi-Architektur-Vorschlag.</strong> Nikita Youshchenko <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00232.html";>fragte</a>
nach dem Stand des <a href="http://raw.no/debian/amd64-multiarch-2";>\
Multi-Architektur</a>-Vorschlags. Dieser sei zwar für die Unterstützung der
reinen amd64-Portierung, die in Debian integriert werden solle, nicht nötig,
für die Unterstützung von sparc64, s390x, mips64, mipsel64 und powerpc64 sei
er jedoch erforderlich.
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00354.html";>\
Vorgesehen sei</a>, auf diesen Architekturen lediglich eine eingeschränkte Anzahl 
von Paketen statt des ganzen Archivs für die native 64-Bit-Nutzung
anzubieten.</p>

<p><strong>Schriftart im Debian-Logo.</strong> Andreas Tille <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00251.html";>fragte sich</a>,
ob die Schriftart, die im Debian-<a href="$(HOME)/logos/">Logo</a> verwendet werde,
auch als TeX-Schrift verfügbar sei und für das »Debian-Med«-Zeichen genutzt werden
könne. Jörg Friedrich <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00256.html";>\
erwähnte</a> die <a href="http://wiki.debian.net/?DebianLogo";>Wiki-Seite</a>

<p><strong>Abonnieren von Fehlerberichten.</strong> Joachim Breitner <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00490.html";>kündigte</a>
eine neue E-Mail-Abonnement-Funktion für Fehler in der <a
href="$(HOME)/Bugs/">Fehlerdatenbank</a> (BTS) an. Die Funktion wurde während
der <a href="$(HOME)/events/2005/0710-debconf">Debian-Konferenz »DebConf«</a>
in die Fehlerdatenbank und den Listenserver integriert. Es sei nun <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg00014.html";>\
möglich</a>, individuelle Fehlerberichte zu
<a href="$(HOME)/Bugs/Developer#subscribe">abonnieren</a> sowie solche
Abonnements zu beenden. Dies funktioniere auch für nicht-vorhandene
Fehlernummern.</p>

<p><strong>Geändertes Programmverhalten.</strong> Matt Kraai <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/07/msg00614.html";>\
berichtete</a>, dass sich das Verhalten von
<a href="http://packages.debian.org/texi2html";>texi2html</a> kürzlich
geändert habe. Die neue Version werde die erzeugten HTML-Dateien in einem
Unterverzeichnis ablegen, wenn die Auswahl getroffen worden sei, nach Kapiteln
zu unterteilen. Dies werde bei etlichen Paketen während der Bauphase einen
Fehler verursachen.</p>

<p><strong>Debian QA-Treffen.</strong> Martin Zobel-Helas <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-qa/2005/07/msg00123.html";>kündigte</a>
ein Treffen des <a href="http://qa.debian.org/";>QA-Teams</a> an, das vom
9. bis 11. September in Darmstadt, Deutschland, stattfinde. Er merkte an, dass
die Gruppe bereits etwa 265 Pakete betreue, für die sich rund 633 Fehler

href="$(HOME)/events/2005/0710-debconf">Debian-Konferenz</a> ein großer Erfolg
mit mehr als 300 teilnehmenden Personen und mehr als 20 Sponsoren gewesen sei.
Ein Glanzpunkt war die Präsentation über den Einsatz im großen Stil von 80.000

href="http://debian.vitavonni.de/packagebrowser";>online</a> durchstöbert werden
und entweder mit <a href="http://packages.debian.org/debtags-edit";>debtags-edit\
</a> oder <a href="http://packages.debian.org/tagcolledit";>tagcolledit</a>
editiert werden.

<p><strong>Aktualisierungen zur Systemsicherheit.</strong> Die alte Leier!
