<p><strong>PowerPC-Portierung benötigt Hilfe.</strong> Frans Pop <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-powerpc/2006/03/msg00490.html";>bat</a> um
Hilfe bei der PowerPC-Portierung des <a href="$(HOME)/devel/debian-installer/">\
Debian-Installers</a>. Insbesondere wird jemand gesucht, der die Verantwortung für
Architektur-spezifische Probleme übernimmt. Dies enthält das regelmäßige
Testen des Installers, das Durchsehen von Installationsberichten, die Übernahme
der Pflege von Architektur-spezifischen Komponenten des Installers, das Beheben
von Fehlern und die Übernahme der Pflege der täglichen Bauvorgänge.

<p><strong>PowerPC Port needs Help.</strong> Frans Pop <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-powerpc/2006/03/msg00490.html";>asked</a>
for help with the PowerPC port of the <a
href="$(HOME)/devel/debian-installer/">debian-installer</a>. In particular
someone is needed to take responsibility for architecture-specific issues. This
comprises of regularly testing of the installer, keeping an eye on installation
reports, taking care of architecture specific components of the installer,
resolving bugs and taking care of daily builds.</p>
<p><strong>Neulizenzierung der Debian-Webseiten.</strong> Javier
Fernández-Sanguino Peña <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-www/2006/04/msg00126.html";>wies darauf
hin</a>, dass es immer noch einen offenen <a
href="http://bugs.debian.org/238245";>Fehler</a> in der <a href="$(HOME)/Bugs/">\
Fehlerdatenbank</a> gebe, der über die gemäß <a
href="$(HOME)/social_contract#guidelines"><acronym_DFSG /></a> nicht-freie
Lizenz der aktuellen Debian-Webseiten sei. Es wurde vorgeschlagen, eine
modifizierte <a
href="http://www.freebsd.org/copyright/freebsd-doc-license.html";>\

<p><strong>Relicensing the Debian Web Pages.</strong> Javier Fernández-Sanguino
Peña <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-www/2006/04/msg00126.html";>\
pointed out</a> that there is still an open <a
href="http://bugs.debian.org/238245";>bug</a> in the <a href="$(HOME)/Bugs/">\
bug tracking system</a> which is about the non-<a
href="$(HOME)/social_contract#guidelines">DFSG</a>-free license for the
current Debian web pages. It was suggested to use an modified FreeBSD
documentation <a
href="http://www.freebsd.org/copyright/freebsd-doc-license.html";>license</a>.
Some others
want to use the GPL for the web pages. There are also technical, legal
and practical problems which needs to be resolved before the license
could be changed. The <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-www/2006/04/threads.html";>discussion</a>
is still ongoing on the <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-www/";>\
debian-www</a> mailing list.</p>
<p><strong>Vermeiden nativer Debian-Pakete.</strong> Panu Kalliokoski
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/02/msg01193.html";>fragte
sich</a>, warum man zu Debian passende Paketierungsinformationen nicht
zu Upstream-Paketen hinzufügen sollte.
Lars Wirzenius
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/02/msg01194.html";>\
erklärte</a> die Vorteile w.z.B. das Heraushalten von Fehlerbehebungen
im Paket aus den Upstream-Quellen und das Vereinfachen von Umständen,
wenn der Upstream-Betreuer nicht länger ein Debian-Entwickler sei.
Henning Makholm
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/02/msg01207.html";>\
ergänzte</a>, dass ein Fehlen Debian-spezifischer Informationen anzeige,
dass das Paket für jede GNU/Linux Distribution nützlich sein könne.</p>
<p><strong>Avoiding native Debian Packages.</strong> Panu Kalliokoski <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/02/msg01193.html";>wondered</a>
why one should not add Debian packaging information to upstream
packages. Lars Wirzenius <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/02/msg01194.html";>explained</a>
the benefits as keeping package fixes out of upstream and to simplify
things if the upstream maintainer is no longer a Debian developer.
Henning Makholm <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/02/msg01207.html";>added</a>
that the lack of Debian-specific information indicates that the package
might be useful by any GNU/Linux distribution.</p>
<p><strong>/usr/doc-Übergang beendet.</strong> Joey Hess <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg00166.html";>gab
bekannt</a>, dass er Fehlerberichte gegen die letzten verbliebenen Pakete, die
immer noch <code>/usr/doc</code>-Symlinks erzeugten, eingereicht habe. Dieser
letzte Schritt markiert das Ende der Ära von regulärer Dokumentation in
<code>/usr/doc</code>.</p>
<p><strong>/usr/doc Transition finished.</strong> Joey Hess <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg00166.html";>announced</a>
that he has opened bug reports for the last remaining packages which still
create <code>/usr/doc</code> symlinks. This final step marks the end of the
era of regular documentation in <code>/usr/doc</code>.</p>
<p><strong>Device Mapper-Unterstützung für Blockgeräte-ID-Bibliothek.</strong>
Theodore Ts'o
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg00265.html";>\
berichtete</a>, dass er einen Patch erhalten habe, der es der
Blockgeräte-ID-Bibliothek erlaube, Device Mapper-Partitionen korrekt zu
handhaben. Da dies jedoch unterm Strich drei weitere Bibliotheken in jedermanns
System einbinden würde, fragte er sich, ob dies akzeptabel sei. Mike Hommey
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg00267.html";>\
bemerkte</a>, dass davon zwei bereits durch andere Pakete hinzugefügt
wurden.</p>
<p><strong>Device Mapper Support for Block Device ID Library.</strong>
Theodore Ts'o <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg00265.html";>reported</a>
that he has received a patch which allows the block device id library to
properly handle device mapper partitions. Since this would essentially drag
in three more libraries into everybody's systems he wondered if this would be
acceptable. Mike Hommey <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg00267.html";>stated</a>
that two of them have already been added via other packages.</p>
<p><strong>Neue Fähigkeiten von Buildd.Net.</strong> Ingo Jürgensmann
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg00437.html";>\
gab</a> neue Fähigkeiten von <a href="http://www.buildd.net/";>\
buildd.net</a> bekannt, wie das Verfolgen von Paketen für Sarge-<a
href="http://www.backports.org/";>Rückportierungen</a> (backports),
verschiedene neue Statuschecks für Pakete, Abschätzen der benötigten Zeit
zum Bauen aller Pakete in einer Warteschlange, einer neuen Mailingliste für
Diskussionen, und als Bonus sei der Quellcode unter einer vernünftigen Lizenz
<a href="http://www.buildd.net/source/";>verfügbar</a>.</p>
<p><strong>New Features of Buildd.Net.</strong> Ingo Jürgensmann <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg00437.html";>announced</a>
new features of <a href="http://www.buildd.net/";>buildd.net</a> such as
tracking packages for sarge <a href="http://www.backports.org/";>backports</a>,
various new package state checks, estimation of time needed for building all
packages in a queue, a new mailing-list for discussions and as a bonus the
source is <a href="http://www.buildd.net/source/";>available</a> under a sane
license.</p>
<p><strong>Aktualisierung des Installers für Stable.</strong> Frans Pop <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2006/04/msg00715.html";>schlug vor</a>,
wie mit den <acronym lang="en" title="Application Binary Interface">\
ABI</acronym>-Änderungen, die durch die letzten <a
href="$(HOME)/security/2006/dsa-1018">Sicherheits</a>-<a
href="$(HOME)/security/2006/dsa-1017">Aktualisierungen</a> des Kernels
erfolgten, umgegangen werden könne, und die Installer-Images mit den neuen
Kernel-Udebs erneut zu bauen. Dies werde einige existierende
Installations-Images beschädigen. Das Hauptproblem werde im Testen der neuen
Images bestehen, da
es nicht möglich sei, eine Installation durchzuführen und die Udebs aus
verschiedenen Quellen herunterzuladen.

<p><strong>Stable Installer Update.</strong> Frans Pop <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2006/04/msg00715.html";>proposed</a>
how to deal with ABI changes introduced by the recent kernel <a
href="$(HOME)/security/2006/dsa-1018">security</a> <a
href="$(HOME)/security/2006/dsa-1017">updates</a> and to rebuild the installer
images using the new kernel udebs. This will break some existing installation
images. The main problem is going to be testing the new images as it will not
be possible to run an installation and download udebs from different
sources.</p>
<p><strong>Entfernung von Log-Dateien während vollständiger Paketlöschung?</strong>
Martin Krafft
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg00688.html";>schlug
vor</a>, die Debian-Richtlinien zu ändern, um Log-Dateien bei vollständiger
Paketentfernung nicht mit zu löschen. Er legte dar, dass diese Entfernung einem
Administrator in Europa rechtliche Probleme mit der Obrigkeit bereiten könne.
Marco d'Itri
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg00691.html";>schlug
vor</a>, ein Backup vor einer vollständigen Paketentfernung zu starten oder
diese Entfernung zu unterlassen, wenn sowieso nicht alle Dateien entfernt
werden sollen.</p>
<p><strong>Removing Log Files during Package Purge?</strong> Martin Krafft <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg00688.html";>proposed</a>
to alter the policy to not remove log files upon package purge. He argued that
this removal may put an administrator into legal trouble with the authorities in
Europe. Marco d'Itri <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg00691.html";>suggested</a>
to run a backup prior to the package purge or not purge it at all if not all
files should be removed anyway.</p>
