anbei die aktuelle Übersetzung der DWN 35. Sie wurde von Helge
Kreutzmann und Jens Seidel übersetzt.

Da Florian bei der DWN etwas kürzer treten wollte, übernehme ich ab
sofort den Versand.

Alle Korrekturen bitte bis morgen Abend an mich senden, alles was danach
eingeht, wird wohl nicht mehr im Newsletter korrigiert werden können.

PS: Ich habe meine alte DWN-Adress-Liste verwendet. Sollte jemand kein

<p>Willkommen zur 35. Ausgabe der DWN in diesem Jahr, dem wöchentlichen
Newsletter der Debian-Gemeinschaft. Bug squashing parties have been announced 
for September 8th to 10th in <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2006/08/msg00012.html";>\
Vienna</a> and for September 15th to 17th in <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2006/08/msg00013.html";>\
Jülich</a>, Germany.  OSDir has taken <a
href="http://shots.osdir.com/slideshows/slideshow.php?release=724&amp;slide=2";>\
screenshots</a> of the new graphical <a href="$(HOME)/devel/debian-installer/">\
Debian installer</a>.  Petr Stehlik <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-68k/2006/08/msg00234.html";>reported</a>
that the installation of <a href="$(HOME)/releases/sarge/">sarge</a> and <a
href="$(HOME)/releases/etch/">etch</a> worked flawlessly in the recently <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-68k/2006/08/msg00226.html";>fixed</a>
version of <a href="http://packages.debian.org/aranym";>ARAnyM</a>, a 32bit
Atari ST/TT/Falcon virtual machine.</p>

<p><strong>Allgemeiner Beschluss: Umgang mit Firmware.</strong> Steve Langasek
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-vote/2006/08/msg00032.html";>schlug</a>
einen allgemeinen Beschluss vor, um festzusetzen, wie Absatz 2 der <acronym_DFSG /> in
Bezug auf Firmware, insbesondere mit dem Linux-Kernel vertriebene, verstanden
werden solle. Falls akzeptiert, wird Firmware als Daten ohne die Anforderung
bezüglich passendem Quellcode betrachtet. Er würde auch die Situation für
andere Werke wie Bilder, Videos und Schriften klären.

<p><strong>General Resolution: Handling Firmware.</strong> Steve Langasek <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-vote/2006/08/msg00032.html";>proposed</a>
a general resolution to establish how DFSG#2 should be understood to apply to
firmware, especially when distributed with the Linux kernel.  When accepted
firmware will be considered as data without the requirement of matching source
code.  It would also clarify the situation for other works such as images,
video, and fonts.</p>

<p><strong>FrOSCon-Bericht.</strong> Joey Schulze <a
href="$(HOME)/events/2006/0624-froscon-report">berichtete</a> über die 
Debian-Präsenz auf der ersten <a href="$(HOME)/events/2006/0624-froscon">Free 
and Open Source Software Conference</a> in Sankt Augustin, Deutschland. Das
Debian-Projekt betreute erfolgreich eine eintägige <a
href="http://wiki.snow-crash.org/FrosCon06";>Konferenz</a> und betrieb einen 
Stand im Ausstellungsbereich. Diese Gemeinschaftsveranstaltung wies sowohl 
offizielle Vorträge als auch Unterkonferenzen, die von verschiedenen Projekten
betreut wurden, auf. Alexander Wirt schaffte es auch, einige Brezeln, die wie
Debian-Wirbel aussahen, aufzutreiben.

<p><strong>FrOSCon Report.</strong> Joey Schulze <a
href="$(HOME)/events/2006/0624-froscon-report">reported</a> about the Debian
presence at the first <a href="$(HOME)/events/2006/0624-froscon">Free and Open
Source Software Conference</a> in Sankt Augustin, Germany.  The Debian project
successfully maintained a one-day <a
href="http://wiki.snow-crash.org/FrosCon06";>conference</a> and ran a booth in
the exhibition area.  This community event featured both official tracks and
sub-conferences maintained by several projects.  Alexander Wirt also managed
to get some pretzels that looked like Debian swirls.</p>

<p><strong>Veranstaltungs-Koordinationstreffen &ndash; Bericht</strong> Meike
Reichle fasste die Hauptergebnisse des <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-publicity/2006/08/msg00031.html";>\
Treffens</a> zur Veranstaltungskoordination <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-publicity/2006/08/msg00080.html";>\
zusammen</a>. Mehrere Ideen wurden während des Treffens dazu gesammelt, wie die
Teilnahme am Debian-Stand und Vorträge verbessert werden könnten, um sie 
attraktiver für Besucher zu machen. Um Standorganisatoren zu helfen, gibt es
eine neue <a href="http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEventsFaqs";>FAQ</a> und <a
href="http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEventsHowto";>Howto</a>-Wiki-Seiten.</p>

<p><strong>Event Coordination Meeting Report.</strong> Meike Reichle <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-publicity/2006/08/msg00080.html";>summarised</a>
the main results of the event coordination <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-publicity/2006/08/msg00031.html";>meeting</a>.
Several ideas were collected during the meeting how Debian booth
participations and talks could be improved to make them more attractive to
visitors.  To help the booth organisers there are new <a
href="http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEventsFaqs";>FAQ</a> and <a
href="http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEventsHowto";>Howto</a> Wiki pages.</p>

<p><strong>Debian und Freie Software in Kuba.</strong> David Moreno Garza 
schrieb einen <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2006/08/msg00010.html";>\
Bericht</a> über seinen Besuch in Kuba als Repräsentant des Debian-Projekts. Ein
Workshop über Paketerstellung und -wartung und Vorträge über Custom Debian 
Distributions (angepasste Debian-Distributionen), Internationalisierung und
Lokalisierung wurden von David und Maykel Moya in der Fakultät für Mathematik
#HK: Computing ist IMHO nicht Informatik (Computer Science); ggf. »Rechnen«?
und Informatik der Universität Havanna organisiert.

<p><strong>Debian and Free Software in Cuba.</strong> David Moreno
Garza wrote a <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2006/08/msg00010.html";>\
report</a> about his visit to Cuba as a representative of the Debian
project. A workshop on package creation and maintenance and talks about
Custom Debian Distributions, internationalisation and localisation were
organised by David and Maykel Moya at the Mathematics and Computing
Faculty in the University of Havana.</p>

<p><strong>Übersetzung der Paketbeschreibungen.</strong>
Martijn van Oosterhout <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-i18n/2006/08/msg00030.html";>gab 
bekannt</a>, dass er ein System geschrieben habe, das E-Mails von und an das <a
href="http://ddtp.debian.net/";>Debian Description Translation Project</a> 
(Debian-Projekt zur Übersetzung der Beschreibungen) senden könne und eine <a 
href="http://kleptog.org/cgi-bin/ddtss2-cgi/xx";>Web-Oberfläche</a> bereitstelle,
mittels der die Übersetzung tatsächlich stattfinde. Der wichtigste Vorteil über die
reine E-Mail-Schnittstelle sei, dass dieses zusätzliche System einen 
Begutachtungsmechanismus für Übersetzungen bereitstelle.

<p><strong>Translation of Package Descriptions.</strong>
Martijn van Oosterhout <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-i18n/2006/08/msg00030.html";>announced</a>
that he wrote a system that can send and receive e-mails from the <a
href="http://ddtp.debian.net/";>Debian Description Translation Project</a>
and provides a web <a href="http://kleptog.org/cgi-bin/ddtss2-cgi/xx";>\
frontend</a> where translating actually takes place.
The most important advantage over the pure e-mail interface is that this
additional system provides a review mechanism for translations.</p>

<p><strong>GIT-Übergangspläne.</strong> Ian Beckwith
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2006/08/msg00351.html";>\
erklärte</a>, dass <code>/usr/bin/git</code> mittels Alternativen verwaltet
werden wird. Sowohl <a href="http://packages.debian.org/git";>GNU Interactive
Tools</a> als auch Linus Torvalds Quellcodeverwaltungssystem
<a href="http://packages.debian.org/git-core";>git</a> stellten den selben
Programmnamen zur Verfügung. Die GNU Interactive Tools seien in
<code>gitfm</code> umbenannt worden, um diesen Konflikt aufzulösen und würden in Etch
einen Wrapper enthalten, der das andere Programm ausführen könne.</p>

<p><strong>GIT Transition Plans.</strong> Ian Beckwith <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2006/08/msg00351.html";>explained</a>
that <code>/usr/bin/git</code> will be maintained via alternatives.  Both <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/git";>GNU Interactive Tools</a> and Linus
Torvald's source code management system <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/git-core";>git</a> provide the same program
name.  The GNU interactive tools have been renamed into <code>gitfm</code> to
# FIXME: s/in etch will contain a wrapper/will contain a wrapper in etch/ ??
resolve this conflict and in etch will contain a wrapper that is able to
execute the other program.</p>

<p><strong>Aktualisierungen für Debian Sarge.</strong> Martin Zobel-Helas
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2006/08/msg00300.html";>\
kündigte</a> die durchgeführten
<a href="http://release.debian.org/stable/3.1/3.1r3/";>Vorbereitungen</a> für
die nächste Aktualisierung von Stable an. Sie werde eine aktualisierte Version des
<a href="$(HOME)/devel/debian-installer/">Debian-Installers</a> beinhalten, um
die letzten Kernel-Änderungen zu berücksichtigen, die durch die letzte Runde der
<a href="$(HOME)/security/">Kernel-Sicherheitsaktualisierungen</a> eingeführt
worden seien. Die meisten anderen Pakete seien aktualisiert worden, um die angefallenen
Sicherheits-Patches zu integrieren.</p>

<p><strong>Updates for Debian Sarge.</strong> Martin Zobel-Helas <a

the <a href="http://release.debian.org/stable/3.1/3.1r3/";>preparations</a>
done for the next stable update.  It will include an updated version of the <a
href="$(HOME)/devel/debian-installer/">Debian Installer</a> to reflect the
recent kernel changes introduced by the last round of kernel <a
href="$(HOME)/security/">security updates</a>.  Most other packages are
updated to incorporated the security that have accumulated.</p>

<p><strong>Neue Fähigkeiten in Etch.</strong> Alexander Schmehl

begann</a>, neue <a href="http://wiki.debian.org/NewInEtch";>Eigenschaften</a>
zu sammeln, die Debian wahrscheinlich in der anstehenden Veröffentlichung 
<a href="$(HOME)/releases/etch/">Etch</a> enthalten werde. Nathanael Nerode

<p><strong>New Features in Etch.</strong> Alexander Schmehl <a

started</a> to collect new <a
href="http://wiki.debian.org/NewInEtch";>features</a> that Debian will probably
include in the upcoming <a href="$(HOME)/releases/etch/">etch</a> release.
Nathanael Nerode additionally <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/08/msg00167.html";>noted</a>
that systems upgraded from <a href="$(HOME)/releases/sarge/">sarge</a> don't
see the benefits of certain changes in the <a
href="$HOME)/devel/debian-installer/">installer</a> such as special tuning of
the Ext2 filesystem.</p>
