provided</a> a list of more than 300 packages that will have to be rebuilt.

<p><strong>Bericht von der Berlinux.</strong> Meike Reichle schrieb einen

-Konferenz, die Ende letzten Monats in Berlin, Deutschland, stattfand.
Mitglieder des Debian-Projekts betrieben einen Stand und hielten mehrere
Vorträge, die in direktem oder indirektem Bezug zu Debian standen. Der
Stand zeichnete sich durch eine Debian-kontrollierte Modelleisenbahn von

<p><strong>Berlinux Event Report.</strong> Meike Reichle wrote a <a

href="$(HOME)/events/2005/1021-berlinux">Berlinux</a> exhibition and
conference that took place in Berlin, Germany at the end of last month.
Members of the Debian project ran a booth and gave several talks that were
directly or indirectly related to Debian. The booth featured a Debian
controlled model railway from Frank Ronneburg and a Nokia 770 from Wolfgang
Borgert.</p>

<p><strong>Effort to alter RFC Licensing.</strong> Simon Josefsson <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/10/msg00214.html";>started</a>
an <a href="http://josefsson.org/bcp78broken/";>effort</a> to influence the <a
href="http://www.ietf.org/";>IETF</a> to change the copying conditions on RFCs
to make them more Free Software friendly. He is looking for signatures from
Free Software developers to support his proposed license change.</p>
<p><strong>Automatisches Bauen von Kernelmodulen.</strong> Russ Allbery
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/10/msg00273.html";>fragte sich</a>,
wie man mit einer <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/168852";>Anfrage</a>
gegenüber dem
<a href="http://packages.debian.org/openafs-modules-source";>\
openafs-modules-source</a>-Paket umgehen solle, ob es automatisch Kernelmodule
bauen könne, wenn der Kernel aktualisiert werde. Kernelmodule getrennt vom
Quellpaket zu bauen sei eine sehr schlechte Idee, da das Sicherheitsteam sie
derart nicht leicht aktualisieren könne. Andres Salomon

dass die Infrastruktur, über die ein Paket <code>-source</code>-Pakete
bauen könne, noch nicht implementiert sei.</p>
<p><strong>Automatic Building Kernel Modules.</strong> Russ Allbery <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/10/msg00273.html";>wondered</a>
how to deal with a <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/168852";>request</a> against
the <a href="http://packages.debian.org/openafs-modules-source";>\
openafs-modules-source</a> to automatically build kernel modules when the
kernel is updated. Building kernel modules separately from the source package
is a very bad idea since they can't be easily updated by the security team.
Andres Salomon <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/10/msg00382.html";>added</a>
that the infrastructure for a package to build <code>-source</code> packages
hasn't been implemented yet.</p>

<p><strong>Automatische Weiterleitung der Ergebnisse von Testläufen.</strong>

fragte sich</a>, wie ein Paket die Ergebnisse von Testabfolgen an die
ursprünglichen (<q>upstream</q>) Entwickler ausgeben könne. Die Testabfolge
laufe während des <q>build</q>-Stadiums des Pakets und sei für die Entwickler
eine nützliche Ressource. Daniel Jacobowitz
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/10/msg00428.html";>schlug vor</a>,
die Ergebnisse während des Bauens anzuzeigen, so dass sie letztendlich in den
Bauprotokollen stünden, die öffentlich verfügbar seien.</p>
<p><strong>Automatic Test Suite Results Forwarding.</strong> Florian Ragwitz
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/10/msg00426.html";>\
wondered</a> how a package could emit the results of the test suite to the
upstream developers. The test suite is run during the build stage of the
package and is a helpful resource for the developers. Daniel Jacobowitz <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/10/msg00428.html";>proposed</a>
to display the results during the build so they will end up in the build logs,
which are publically available.</p>
<p><strong>Diskussion zu Icon-Caches in GTK+.</strong> Josselin Mouette
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/10/msg00455.html";>sucht</a>
nach Anregungen dazu, wie man Icon-Caches in der GTK+-Bibliothek handhabe,
da es sehr zeitaufwändig sei, den gesamten Verzeichnisbaum zu durchlaufen.
Wenn der Cache nicht aufgrund kürzlich hinzugefügter Icons neu erstellt
werde, dann könnten die zugehörigen Programme nicht wie üblich starten.</p>
<p><strong>GTK+ Icon Cache Discussion.</strong> Josselin Mouette is <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/10/msg00455.html";>seeking</a>
input on handling icons caches in the GTK+ library since traversing the entire
directory tree is time consuming. When the cache is not rebuilt for recently
added icons, the corresponding programs can't start as usual.</p>
<p><strong>Postinst-Check auf Paketstatus.</strong> Frank Küster
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/10/msg00463.html";>fragte sich</a>,
ob es eine etablierte Methode dafür gebe, wie das <code>postinst</code>-Skript
den Status eines anderen Paketes bestimmen könne, um einen zweiten Aufruf eines
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/10/msg00467.html";>\
zeitaufwändigen</a> Programms zu vermeiden. Er

that the Zope packages already try to implement a general post-hook mechanism
with APT. Ben Armstrong <a

snippet from the <a href="http://packages.debian.org/libc6";>libc6</a>
<code>postinst</code> that solves the original problem.</p>
