about his trial building the <a href="$(HOME)/devel/debian-installer/">\
debian-installer</a> with the build daemon network. A few of the <a
href="http://wiki.debian.org/?DebianInstallerToday";>issues</a>
<a href="http://wiki.debian.org/?DebianInstallerEtchBeta1Prep";>\
include</a> building on HPPA, reducing the size of
boot images on sparc and mipsel, and creating CD image builds.</p>
<p><strong>GNOME 1-Übergang.</strong> Thomas Bushnell <a

<p><strong>GNOME 1 Transition.</strong> Thomas Bushnell <a

on the state of GNOME 1 since <code>libpng10</code> has been removed and thus
a number of GNOME packages don't build anymore. New core libraries that
depend on a newer library have been uploaded already. Packages that link
against those core libraries need to be rebuilt as well. He asked maintainers
of related packages to upload new versions that will be linked against the
newer libraries.</p>
<p><strong>Debian Sarge installieren.</strong> Edd Dumbill hat eine <a
href="http://www.linuxdevcenter.com/pub/a/linux/2005/09/29/installing_debian.html";>\
Einführung</a> zum neuen Debian-Installer geschrieben und führt durch den
Debian-Installations-<a
href="$(HOME)/releases/sarge/installmanual">Prozess</a>. Die Partitionierung
der Festplatte wird detailliert beschrieben und einige Auswahlmöglichkeiten
werden gezeigt. Im Falle von Hardware-Problemen empfiehlt Edd, <a

<p><strong>Installing Debian Sarge.</strong> Edd Dumbill wrote an <a
href="http://www.linuxdevcenter.com/pub/a/linux/2005/09/29/installing_debian.html";>\
introduction</a> for the new Debian installer and walks through the Debian
installation <a href="$(HOME)/releases/sarge/installmanual">process</a>.
Partitioning the hard disk is described in detail and some selectable targets
are shown. In case of hardware problems Edd proposes to use <a
href="http://www.knoppix.org/";>Knoppix</a> for hardware detection.</p>

nach einer bestimmten Nachrichten-ID (»Message-ID«) zu durchsuchen. Der Index
werde in etwa
alle fünf Minuten aktualisiert und decke das gesamte öffentliche Archiv

<p><strong>Message ID Lookup.</strong> Andrew Suffield <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2005/10/msg00043.html";>announced</a>
a web page that provides a special search feature over the Debian <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/";>lists archive</a>. Using a specially composed
URL it is now possible to search the lists archives for a particular message
ID. The index is updated roughly every five minutes and covers the entire
public archive.</p>
<p><strong>Debian OpenSolaris.</strong> Alex Ross <a
href="http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/click.jspa?searchID=5860&messageID=11119";>\
kündigte an</a>, dass er einen Großteil der Debian-Pakete
für ein System kompiliert habe, das auf dem offenen Solaris-Kernel von <a
href="http://www.sun.com/";>Sun Microsystems</a> basiere. Diese Pakete liefen

packages for a system based on the open Solaris kernel from <a

provide ISO images and packages for download soon.</p>
<p><strong>Debian-Sicherheitsaktualisierung.</strong> Branden Robinson <a
href="http://necrotic.deadbeast.net/~branden/blog/exuberance/Debian/dpl_security_snapshot_2005.10.12.html";>\
berichtete</a> über die modifizierte <a href="$(HOME)/News/2005/20051004">\
Sicherheitsinfrastruktur</a>, die schneller als erwartet nach Diskussionen auf dem

reported</a> about the modified security <a
href="$(HOME)/News/2005/20051004">infrastructure</a> that was implemented
faster than anticipated after discussions at the Oldenburg developers <a
href="http://meeting.ffis.de/Oldenburg2005/";>meeting</a> and now consists of
three public machines combined in a DNS rotation. He also mentioned the
ongoing process of updating the kernel in the Debian's releases that will
probably lead to new packages soon.</p>
<p><strong>Lizenzieren von Bildern innerhalb von Anwendungen.</strong>

and pictures or movies released under the <a

BY-SA</a> license. MJ Ray <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2005/09/msg00559.html";>asserted</a>
that the result cannot be distributed under the GPL alone and proposed to use
the <a href="http://www.x.org/Downloads_terms.html";>MIT/X11</a> license
instead.</p>
<p><strong>Abhängigkeit von GNU-Binär-Werkzeugen.</strong> Camm Maguire

sich</a>, ob es eine stabile Binärschnittstelle zu den GNU-Binär-Werkzeugen

if there will be a stable binary interface to the GNU binary utilities that

would have to link to them statically instead.</p>
